The thread of shakti does not exist in the past or the future; it is only in the present moment. It is the shakti of the whole universe, but you learn to find the thread that is uniquely you. You learn to listen to the full expression of the self.

To find the thread of shakti, you must learn deep inner listening, so you begin to hear the rhythm of the universe, the rhythm of your heart, the rhythm of your life. You learn to listen for the next right thing to do and to make choices from this sacred space. Whether your heart is overflowing or your heart is breaking, this connection is what makes you aware of the ongoing presence of joy. It allows you to feel that thread of love that runs through everything.

Meditation & Gentle Yoga Series: Resonate with Bliss

With the summer season upon us, it’s the perfect time to tap into your innate ability to resonate with bliss, Ananda. You will experience meditations that feature yogic breaths (pranayamas), sacred sounds (mantras), as well as hand and finger positions (mudras) which activate the limbic system and different nerve centers, which creates a sealed circuit of energy to deepen your meditation. You will also be lead through a short sequence of gentle yoga postures to relieve the body of tension, creating ease in the body, so you can sit more comfortably in meditation. Yoga is comprised of many forms and techniques that bring you back to a state of wholeness. Meditation is yoga for the mind, pranayama is yoga for the heart and asana is yoga for the body. This series is excellent for practitioners of all levels. Be inspired to deepen and/or recommit to your practice!
Four weeks series: Mondays, June 3 - 24; from 7:30-8:45 p.m. - $56 ($48 by May 27; drop-ins welcome)

2013 Yoga Teacher Training

Become a teacher of Classical Yoga! Our tenth Classical Yoga Teacher Training begins this February. During the course, you'll experience the eight limbs of classical yoga and gain a deep understanding of how you can bring an experience of yoga, literally “union” or “yoking” oneself to the Divine, to others. Each weekend, students will delve into the physical, energetic, and spiritual practices of asana, breathwork, and meditation. Ma Jaya Receives Gandhi Foundation USA's
Humanitarian Service Award
Presented by the Gandhi Foundation USA,
the King Center and the SCLC

The first U.N.-sanctioned International Day of Non-Violence was celebrated on October 5th, 2007, in honor of the 138th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi. The interfaith event was sponsored by Gandhi Foundation USA, the SCLC and the King Center, and hosted by the King Center at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site in Atlanta, GA.

Each year, Gandhi Foundation USA honors one individual and one organization with its Humanitarian Service Award, recognizing those who have created milestones in human rights and social causes. Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati, internationally acclaimed spiritual teacher, was honored for her life's work fighting for the rights of others. The award was also presented to CARE, the international humanitarian relief organization.

Jaya Devi honored at Morehouse College!
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers

On Thursday, April 6, 2007 our very own Jaya Devi was present in her capacity as a member of the MLK Board of Preachers as the newest members were inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers of Morehouse College at the Gandhi Institute for Reconciliation. There were also unveilings and dedications of portraits to be hung in the Hall of Honor, including a new portrait of the late Mrs Coretta Scott King, and Dr Ikeda, one of the founders of the Gandhi-Ikeda -King Institute for World Peace.

The Hall of Honor carries portraits of many such giants of peace and compassion, including the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., M.K. Gandhi, and Jaya Devi's own guru, the great spiritual master and activist Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati. The ceremony took place in the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College. This is a prestigious honor for our Jaya Devi, who has taught yoga and meditation worldwide, including recently at the Parliament of World Religions in Barcelona, Spain. The ceremony was conducted by Dean Lawrence Carter of the MLK Chapel at Morehouse, pictured at left with Jaya Devi.

Kashi Atlanta was founded in 1998. Since it's inception, this urban ashram's mission has been one of education, service and healing, with living roots in the spiritual teaching of gurus Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati and Neem Karoli Baba. Kashi Atlanta fulfills its mission through yoga, service, and loving spiritual community. In so doing, the body, mind, and spirit are nourished in a safe, caring environment that encourages real healing and spiritual growth.
